3 Steps to Jumpstart Your Spring Wellness RoutineIt has been very nice here the past few days… in the 80s and sunny–borderline hot for me, but there has been a nice breeze. I actually broke out the walking sandals and put away my sweatshirts. So excited for nice weather. And then I realized what is coming up, like NOW. Summer. Shorts. Swimsuits. Tank Tops. AGH!!

With the terrible weather we had this past winter I spent way too much time inside, sitting on my butt, instead of outside walking and getting exercise. I definitely need to jumpstart my fitness routine! By taking a few small steps in the right direction, I can improve my health and hopefully drop a few pounds in the process.

I know that I work better with a plan. So my first step was to start planning our meals each week. This way I don’t find myself standing in front of an empty fridge wondering what I’m going to make for dinner and then ordering takeout at the last minute. It’s expensive and unhealthy. I’ve learned to stock our fridge with more lean proteins and lots of colorful fruits and veggiesas well as many quick and easy meals like my Copycat Chick-fil-A Market Salad. So when the kids come to me at 7 pm and ask where’s dinner because I’ve forgotten to cook I’m prepared. (Damn you Daylight Saving Time!)

3 Steps to Jumpstart Your Spring Wellness RoutineMy second step, is to set an alarm on my iPhone and go for a walk, every day. Sometimes it’s a 2 mile loop around the neighborhood and sometimes it’s down the block and back, but no matter what, unless of course it is raining cats and dogs, I get up and go. Bonus step, I also downloaded a fun app that reminds me to drink more water. Because staying hydrated is good for your body (and skin) all the way around, and it helps stop needless snacking.

  1. I’ve been taking our dog for walks in the park and drinking a lot more herbal tea. I haven’t heard about this jumpstart program, but it sounds like great motivation to keep healthy!

  2. I’ve never tried Nutrisystem, but I definitely need a jump start… using our Disney trip as my “kick in the butt I need” to lose the baby weight, but it’s still slow moving 😉

  4. I need a jumpstart right now. Living in a hotel while we try to find a house is wearing on me and I’m feeling frumpy and just “ugh”.

  5. These are such great tips and it sounds like you have a great plan!! Now that the weather is much nicer, I want to start walking once or twice a day with all the kids! We love getting outside and getting fresh air and sunshine!
