Don’t miss Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live! Free admission on September 27th at over 1000 Museums

My family and I love to attend local happenings. Events, festivals, parks, museums, aquariums… anything that we can do that is fun, interesting and inexpensive. With a family of 7 we can’t go just anywhere due to admission costs. I have to search out sales, Groupons, free days, etc., so that we can visit places that we normally wouldn’t be able to, like the Sea Life Charlotte/Concord Aquarium. Last year was the first year we participated in the Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live event. We lived in Huntsville at the time and decided to go to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and had a blast at a venue that we normally wouldn’t have been able to attend (it’s $20 for those 13 and up and $15 for ages 5-10 so that trip would have cost …

Food, Friends and Fun at the Bonefish Grill #HelloNewMenu [review]

Last month Bonefish Grill came out with an amazing new menu. (Don’t panic, they didn’t change the Bang Bang Shrimp!) And to help get the word out they hosted a tasting for our little group of local bloggers at the Huntersville, NC location. (It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.) I’m a work from home mom with five kids on summer break, so anytime I can get out of the house AND get a free meal, I’m there! 😉 It was a bonus that I got to spend that time with some wonderful women, as well! OMGosh the food, glorious food! I am not exaggerating when I say this was probably the best meal of my entire life. I loved everything I tried and if you had to put a gun to …

Tasty Tuesday – Copycat Nan and Byron’s Train Wreck Fries

On Friday, I attended my monthly Moms’ Night Out Charlotte blogger meet and greet. This time it was at the ah-maz-ing Nan and Byron’s restaurant in Charlotte. I had such a wonderful evening visiting with friends, sampling the menu, and savoring a couple of their specialty libations. The Cadillac Jalapeno Margarita (Patron, Citrus Juices, muddled fresh jalapeno, topped with Grand Marnier-flavored Cadillac Foam and cayenne pepper) and the Farmhouse Lemonade (Bacardi Limon, Strawberry Vodka, Limoncello, citrus juices, muddled fresh strawberries and lemon) were two favorites. I REALLY wanted to try the G’Night Moon (Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon Moonshine, soda water, Sprite, muddled mint and lime with a house made simple syrup) but I had to drive home later that night and knew if I had one more drink I’d be pushing …

Mother's Day at the Aquarium

Mother’s Day at the Aquarium

Because my husband had to work on Mother’s Day (he is the Clubhouse Manager at a local country club and Mother’s Day is one of their biggest events of the year) it was up to me to plan something if I wanted to get out of the house. Since moving to the Charlotte area, we haven’t ventured out much aside from a couple of trips to Carowinds and a local spring festival. So I was very excited when I was contacted to take a tour of the SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium. I was provided free entry to the aquarium, but was not compensated for this review, and the thoughts and opinions in this review are my own. When we walked into the mall I could see a line of people waiting …
