While I absolutely adore Spring, especially in North Carolina (achoo–aside from the allergies) this is the busiest time of the year for me. Between robotics meetings and tournaments, Environmental Club, Science Club, and all the other after school activities, I spend more time in my car than I do at home.
It’s especially difficult to get dinner on the table at a decent hour. And after all that running around I usually don’t feel much like cooking! Before our only options were pizza delivery or running out once again to pick up takeout. But not anymore!
DoorDash
If you live in Uptown Charlotte (or any of these fine cities: Atlanta, Bellevue, Beverly Hills, Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Minneapolis, Orange County, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Silicon Valley, St. Paul, Washington D.C., Toronto, or Vancouver) there is a new delivery service that will bring you your favorite dish right to your door.
DoorDash is an on-demand delivery service that connects customers with local businesses. Through the DoorDash marketplace, people can purchase goods from local merchants and have them delivered in less than 45 minutes – thanks to our revolutionary logistics technology.
Founded in 2013 in a dorm room at Stanford, DoorDash began with a mission to empower local economies in a connected world. By building the on-demand delivery infrastructure for local cities, we’re bringing communities closer, one doorstep at a time.
Simply download the app here (iPhone or Android) or sign up online at DoorDash.com and enter your address to see all the restaurant choices available to you.
When I first installed the DoorDash app on my iPhone, there were so many restaurant choices I found it difficult to decide what I wanted! But never fear! You can order from more than one place (just pay a separate delivery fee, currently $1 per order, after March 31st it will go up to $3.99).
My friend Sarah, had been talking about ordering sushi for days so I was craving it big time! It was super easy to find what I was looking for with the amazing search function. You can search up a specific restaurant, cuisine, or food. I just typed in Sushi and found all the different restaurants that served sushi and then found one that was open for lunch so I could place my order. You will either see the approximate delivery time for pre-ordering or the wait time.
I love that you have the option of pre-ordering your food so if you want it to be delivered around 1PM, you just choose the delivery time, otherwise you state you want it delivered asap. DoorDash gives you a estimated time of arrival and keeps you in the look the entire time with text updates.
Just as a warning, some restaurants charge a little more for their items when you order through DoorDash, but most of the places I looked at didn’t. I was very happy with the cost of my lunch (I even ordered a little extra to have for dinner!)
I received a text when my food was picked up and when it was on the way and then again when my driver, Filip, was walking up to the door!
I was so excited to receive my orders from Room 112 and Amélie’s French Bakery. (Especially the treats from Amélie’s!!)
Everything was amazing and so delicious.
DoorDash is a perfect service for the executive that can’t get out of the office for lunch or needs to stay late for work, as well as the family who would like a special dinner but do not want to run out, try to find parking, pick up the food and then fight traffic back to their home. Let the awesome DoorDash drivers do it for you!
Right now if you use my code MyMommyBrain2 when you order you can receive $5 of an order of $20 within the Charlotte area.
What are you waiting for? Get ordering! Your meal will be there in a dash!
