If you didn’t already know, this past Saturday (September 6th) was Fit Made Fun Day!
“What is Fit Made Fun Day?”
Well, I’m glad you asked!
LeapFrog declared Saturday, September 6th Fit Made Fun Day to recognize the importance of active play and to coincide with its launch of LeapBand, an activity tracker your kids wear on their wrist. It’s a great little device that makes fitness fun for kids! LeapBand encourages kids and families everywhere to jump into motion to experience the fun of an active, healthy lifestyle.
In Santa Monica, California on Saturday LeapForg and CLIF Kids sponsored a fun day out for over 300 kids and parents, led by retired pro soccer star and mom of three, Mia Hamm. They broke multiple GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS including “Most children making sand angels on the beach”, “Most people hopping on one foot” and “Most people doing a swim dance.”

I was so excited to learn I was going to be participating in the Fit Made Fun day. My kids and I are big technophiles. We love our gadgets! I have a FitBit that I don’t leave home without and my kids love taking it and seeing how many steps they can get in before I catch them and take it back.
We planned a great afternoon with the neighbors that started off attending a fun game of soccer at the park.
While the little ones played one of the cutest games of soccer I’ve ever seen, the older kids played with the LeapBands.
The LeapBand is a pretty cool gadget, designed for kids ages 4 to 9. It’s worn on the wrist like a watch and it tracks kids’ every movement, suggesting fun active challenges along the way (like walk like a chicken, hop like a frog, or spin around in a circle) – the more they move, the more points they earn to unlock virtual rewards for their pets and get to new levels!
Kids can pick a pet and choose it’s name and color and then they learn healthy habits by feeing their pal healthy snacks. They have to keep their pet happy by bathing, feeding and grooming it, and they earn points to unlock pet accessories.
The pets are also changeable so if your kids get bored with one pet they can swap it out for another one after they unlock a new level. The more active the kids are, they more points they earn and then they get to unlock play on other devices, like an iPad or LeapPad.
The LeapBand was very easy to setup and has some nice features, like parental controls so I can block out time when they are able to play and block out time when the LeapBand games are not available. When it’s turned off (like during school or at bedtime) the LeapBand functions as a watch. It’s water resistant and uses a rechargeable battery and comes with a USB cord so you can charge The LeapBand at your computer or in your car. I love that!
You can sync the LeapBand with your computer by downloading LeapFrog’s Connect software. It’s super easy to set up and almost fool proof to use.
My two youngest girls really enjoyed using the LeapBand. Our only complaint is that the wristband is very tight, even for my skinny little girls.
Once the soccer game was over we had a ZBAR Protein bars provided by Clif Kid. They were delicious and appreciated by the hungry soccer stars. The favorite was a tie between the chocolate chip and peanut butter chocolate. The mint wasn’t a big hit with the kids, but the parents seemed to really like them.
My kids liked the ClifKid ZBAR Protein bars so much that they have requested I buy more to use for their school snacks and lunches. They were very tasty and didn’t have that “vitamin” flavor that so many protein bars have.
I love the ClifKid ZBAR Protein bars because they are made with organic grains, contain 5 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber (in the chocolate chip), and have no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or synthetic preservatives.
We had a great time on Fit Made Fun Day! We didn’t break any Guinness World Records like they did with Mia Hamm in Santa Monica, but we still had a great time!
A big thank you to LeapFrog and Clif Kid.

But did you make any world RECORDS is the real question?? 🙂
My kid would love this sort of fit/watch thingy too! NICE.
Our family is absolutely in love with everything Leapfrog. To see that they are providing opportunities for our kids to enjoy being active and helping parents out by giving us ideas to keep them active, that's pretty neat! Thanks so much for sharing Kate!
How cool! With childhood obesity still being an issue, it's nice to see more companies doing what they can to help compact the problem and make being active fun again for kids.
That looks like such a fun day! My kids love those bars!
The Leapband sounds great! I think I need to get it for my three little guys!
Yes, the LeapBands are pretty cool. My kids really enjoy using them.
