Due to COVID-19, pretty much all of the usual things we would do for Halloween have been cancelled.

So we are going to have some family-only fun this year. We are going to use my firepit and make s’mores (one of our favorite activities), have some good food, maybe watch some spooky movies, and just enjoy each other’s company.

The kids all LOVE Oreo’s so I decided to make this adorable Spider Monster Cake. I picked up an undecorated cake at the store to save some time and grabbed candy eyes, M&M’s, Junior Mints, and frosting to decorate.

It’s so simple any age can help!

Hauntingly Good Halloween Cake

eyes
Create the eyes by using the cream half of Oreo cookies for the eyeballs and Junior Mints, M&M’s and Reese’s Pieces as the pupils. Add a bit of extra frosting to be sure the candies stick to the Oreo.
attaching-eyes
Using frosting, attach the eyes to the side of the cake.

start-of-spiders
For the spider bodies use mini Oreo cookies. We used candy eyes, but you can easily pipe some frosting on the Oreo cookies to create them.
frosting-legs
Add the legs by piping on chocolate frosting.

And that was all it took! I think it turned out really cute.
