Kate Kelly created Life as a Ginger (formerly My Mommy Brain) in 2008 as a platform to share–with her family and friends–the misadventures of a work-from-home mom with an infant that never slept. Kate’s posts gained popularity with other moms and she decided to start sharing more life stories and recipes for the mom on-the-go.
The newest addition to the Kelly Zoo. David is a 4 month old Giant African Bullfrogs AKA a Pixie frog. (Pixie Frogs are one of the biggest species of frogs in the world. They get to be nine inches long and can grow to be as heavy as 3 pounds. Their typical lifespan is 20 years!)
Isn’t he adorable?!?
Throughout the site you will find Kate’s favorite recipes, cocktails, product recommendations, as well as tales from her chaotic life with five daughters, a husband living and working out-of-state, and a small zoo of “coworkers”. some of whom immediately turn into barking assholes as soon as she gets on a phone call.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys traveling the globe, sampling fine cuisine, and volunteering for charity events.
Because she has no spare time, she instead manages an occasional trip through the drive-thru (which counts as travel and dining) and “volunteering” to chauffeur her kids to their activities.
Kate loves to cook and is always subjecting her family to new dishes… sometimes to great acclaim and sometimes not so much.
An avid reader, Kate carries her iPhone loaded with the Kindle app with her at all times so that she can read at stoplights, in waiting rooms, and when she is stuck in the car waiting for her daughters, because she rarely has time to read when she is home.

Tabletop Media Group, December 2018 Sassool Food Blogger Grocery Challenge Winner for my recipe Pomegranate Chicken with Halloumi Cheese, Tomatoes, and Peppers (They even added it to their menu and offer it every January.)
“Kate was challenged to use unique market items that we carry to create a recipe that would showcase Mediterranean flare and amazing flavor. Her Pomegranate Chicken with Pearled Cous Cous blew us away. Even our chef wanted the recipe. We decided to replicate Kate’s recipe as a daily special for about 2 months after the contest because it was irresistible and most every customer was intrigued to try it!” – Simone Saleh Lawson, Managing Director, Sassool
