Always on my Amazon Shopping List

Always on my Amazon Shopping List

As a family of 7 I find it much more convenient to purchase items by the case. I used to run to the local stores to stock up but, I discovered I could order things by the case from Amazon.com for the same price, or even cheaper! And they are conveniently delivered right to my door! As soon as I find a good deal on Amazon, I’m sure to add it to my shopping list so it’s quick and easy to reorder. One particular product we always order by the case is Always Infinity Pads. As you may already know, I am the proud mother of five daughters. And let me tell you, when you and four girls have their cycles synced up, Amazon’s multipacks of Always pads are a …

School Lunches Made Easy

School Lunches Made Easy

The one thing I dread every school year, aside from the early mornings, is back-to-school lunch battles. Don’t laugh, the struggle is REAL!! My kids refused to eat school lunches (unless it was pizza day). So every day I would pack five lunches. Trying to remember which kid liked peanut butter and jelly this week, or which kid would only eat veggies if they were drenched in balsamic vinegar. After having one too many uneaten lunches return home, I announced to my kids that I was DONE. If they didn’t want hot lunch, they were responsible for making their own lunches from now on. This system has been working out for the past two years, and now the only complaints I get is when we run out of something. To keep …

Get Into the Woods! Discover the Forest

I’ve always loved the outdoors. Growing up in rural Iowa, if you weren’t into outdoor activities there wasn’t much for you to do! I have fond memories of summer vacations playing at town parks, swimming at the town pool, riding bikes all over town, and when I was a little older, riding my brother’s dirtbikes and quads, going camping and boating at the lake, attending 4th of July fireworks and having big family reunions at state parks. Our best family trip ever happened when I was about 7 or 8. My parents took us on a road trip out West for summer vacation. We packed up my dad’s dually truck with a big cooler of food and drinks, hitched up the camper and headed towards Montana to visit my Uncle Bill and …

One Pot Linguine alla Caprese

One-Pot Linguine alla Caprese

A few weeks ago I received a free trial of one of those food delivery services. I was excited to see bruschetta on the menu. I made the appetizer-sized portions thinking the kids would never dare try them and the hubby and I would have a nice little treat all to ourselves. But sadly that was not meant to be. Turns out my kids LOVE bruschetta. They ate every last bite, aside from the little taste I had while I was seasoning the dish with salt and pepper. The girls had asked me a few times to pick up the ingredients so they could make bruschetta again. So when I saw some particularly yummy-looking artisan tomatoes on sale last week, I picked up a several pints, along with some fresh French bread. Got home from the store, dropped …

"Go outside and have fun!" Come home when the street lights come on.

Go outside and play!

Do you remember the “good old days” when you were told first thing in the morning to “go outside and play” and you played with your friends until the street lights came on? Go outside, play and have fun with your kids! Before you know it they are going to be grown and living on their own and you won’t have the opportunity any more.
