Exercise Your Brain with SmartGames

Exercise Your Brain with SmartGames

Yesterday I had the opportunity to host a fun SmartGames game night through Tryazon. Tryazon sent us samples of three SmartGames: Ghost Hunters, IQ XOXO, and Busy Bugs. We invited some friends over and everyone grabbed a game to try. Since all the games were one player games we timed each round for 10 minutes and then swapped. Everyone had a great time learning the games. Ghost Hunters ended up being the favorite of the night! But we had fun playing them all. About SmartGames SmartGames utilizes skills ranging from spatial insight to pattern recognition, while improving your problem solving abilities and your memory. Each SmartGame is carefully designed and produced using quality materials that last. Challenges are divided into 4 or 5 levels of difficulty. And with so many included challenges, each …

Picnics & Popsicles

Picnics & Popsicles

Disclosure: The following is a sponsored post. Although I was supplied an outfit from FabKids in exchange for writing this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only recommend products or services I believe in.  Well, summer has struck North Carolina with a vengeance (and I know we are not alone)! Two straight weeks of temps in the mid to high 90s, plus a few 100 degree days in there AND almost no rain. Basically the moment the kids got out of school we hit a heat wave that kept them in the house all. day. long. Finally, the high temps fell to a balmy 88 degrees and we took the opportunity to pack up a quick picnic lunch and enjoy some time outside. The kids were so excited to play outdoors. …

Although I was supplied products and/or compensated for writing this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only recommend products or services I believe in, and use myself. Well, it’s official! Even if the calendar doesn’t quite agree, summer is here. And it has hit North Carolina with a vengeance. We are only on day 6 of summer break and I’m ready for fall. What the heck am I going to do to survive the next 10 weeks of “vacation”?!? It’s too hot to do anything outside. I’m a fair-skinned redhead convinced I will die from spontaneous combustion if I go outside when it’s over 90. Air conditioning and ice pops are my best friends. …

I only recommend products or services I believe in.  Yay!! It’s time for fireflies, outdoor fun, barbecues, and S’Mores! Even though we have two weeks left of school the unofficial kickoff to summer is here! I don’t know about yours, but my kids have pretty much checked out of school already, which is unfortunate since they have EOGs (comprehensive end of the year testing) next week. Hopefully, we can keep it together just a little bit longer! I know I am counting down the days until school’s out –>> did you see the countdown clock in my sidebar, lol?!? We got a little taste of …

New Music from Mary Lambert: Heart On My Sleeve [music review]

If you’ve never heard of Mary Lambert, you will shortly. Her album Heart On My Sleeve dropped on October 14th and it is phenomenal! If you feel like the name is familiar but you can’t quite place it, let me give you a little refresher… she wrote and sang the hook on this 2012 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis song… and it transformed her career! After struggling financially and personally for years, the 25 year old singer’s career took off when she sang the hook “She Keeps Me Warm” for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ hit “Same Love” in 2012. In 2013 Lambert signed with Capitol Records and released the EP Welcome To The Age of My Body which included an extended version of “She Keeps Me Warm”. In January 2014, because of her …

Train – Bulletproof Picasso [review] #BulletproofPicasso #O2O

I have loved Train ever since I took my girls to see them in concert at a local summer festival, just before they became really popular. I wasn’t expecting much, I mean we lived in a relatively small town, how good could the band be, right? I was blown away. We weren’t planning to stay through the whole concert as my little ones were cranky and it was past their bedtime. But once the music started everyone settled down and enjoyed the show. Every last second of it! I picked up the CD the next day and my girls and I listened to “Meet Virginia”, “Calling All Angels”, “When I Look to the Sky” and “Get to Me” over and over. When “Drops of Jupiter” and “Hey Soul, Sister” came out I immediately …

Tasty Tuesday – Red Wine Sangria

I never really liked sangria, or at least I thought I didn’t like Sangria. I’ve tried it several times and just didn’t have a taste for it. I always thought it was too bitter. Until this version, that is. A good friend made it for me and insisted I try it. I took a tiny sip and was very surprised that I liked it. It was delicious! Now it’s a favorite to serve at parties. This sangria is light and fruity and a little on the sweet side (you can cut back on the sugar if you like it less sweet). My favorite trick when making a pitcher of sangria or mixed drinks is to freeze some of beverage into ice cubes, so that when the ice melts it doesn’t water down the cocktail. I …

Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask [Review]

I love to get facials. It’s the one luxury I splurge on every couple of months. My favorite part of the facial is when they apply the mud mask. It’s so relaxing and makes my skin look and feel amazing! And, as a busy working mom, it’s nice just to close my eyes and relax for 20 minutes, listening to soft music without kids in the background yelling “MOM she took the iPod!!”. But, like most moms, I can’t afford to go get facials as much as I would like. That is why I was so excited when I was asked to review Pure & Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask. Pure & Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask is wonderful. I’m a redhead and like most redheads, I have sensitive skin. …

Drink Duets [Review + Special Offer]

With the heat and humidity here in North Carolina we tend to drink a lot of ice water in our house (I rarely buy juice or soda). We normally use refillable containers, but I keep a case of water bottles in the garage fridge so when we go someplace we can all just grab a bottle and go. It’s just more convenient and you don’t have to worry about leaving your expensive Camelbak somewhere. The problem with disposable water bottles is they all look alike. My kids will grab one, take a few drinks, and then put it down. When they come back for it a few minutes later there are five water bottles all sitting in the same general area and they have forgotten which one is theirs. What’s …
