I have been an animal lover my entire life. I brought home more stray cats and kittens than I can name. My mom was always initially annoyed and then, within a day or two (sometimes hours) she’d fall in love with the little balls of fluff. She is a cat person. I love cats, but I’ve always had a special connection to dogs.
I am a dog person, and not just any dogs, BIG dogs.
I don’t have anything against little dogs. I’ve just always been pulled towards big pups. Currently, we have about 400 pounds of big fluffy dogs in our home (and yes, that IS a lot of hair).
Our Pack

Becoming Part of
The Pack
Oliver & Winnie are 11 month old Great Pyrenees Pups I drove nearly 8 hours round-trip to pick up from a family in Georgia (and Oliver gets car sick!!); Sparky is a 10 YO Black Lab mix who came for a sleepover 9 1/2 years ago and never left; and Luci, AKA Luci-fur when she is naughty, is the 2 yo Great Pyrenees we rescued from her previous owner who was going to dump her on the side of the road.
I brought all of the pups into our lives without telling my husband (haha). He’s forgiven me each time, and just like my mom with the cats, he fell in love with the pups almost immediately.
I am Sparky and Oliver’s HUMAN. Sure, they love everyone in the family, but they are borderline obsessed with me.
Sparky has to be near me at all times. When he gets to sleep in my bed, he has to sleep right in the middle between me and the hubby. If my husband tries to hug me with Sparky in the room Sparky will bark and “play” bite my husband’s pants to pull him away from me. If Sparky isn’t in the room with me he will stand at the door and bark over and over until someone lets him in.

Oliver runs to me every time I walk in the door, whether I’m away for 5 minutes or 5 hours. He will ignore everyone else and make a beeline for me. He thinks he is a lap dog and likes to sit on me when I’m in the recliner. He protects me from what he perceives as “bad things”–like the wind, leaves, cars that drive past our home, etc.,–and sleeps under my desk whenever I’m working to keep my feet warm.

My dogs and I have a strong bond. They always seem to know when I need an extra snuggle, a laugh, or a quiet walk. They are very protective of me, even with my own family.

That’s why I think we would make awesome contestants on The Pack, the new unscripted series from Amazon Prime Video!
The Pack, hosted by Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn and her canine co-host Lucy, celebrates the unrivaled bond between dogs and their human companions.

Watch The Pack on Amazon Prime – premiering on Nov. 20th
The Amazon Original series The Pack will premiere on November 20th, on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
At stake is a life-changing $750,000 for the winning duo and their charity, $500,000 to the winners plus an additional $250,000 prize amount for the animal charity of their choice.
Additionally, The Pack donated $250,000 during filming to multiple charities and animal rescue organizations in each country, helping to pay it forward to dogs and those who love them around the world.
In this global adventure, 12 teams of dogs and their human companions compete in fun and exciting challenges celebrating their incredible bond.
To win the monetary prize for themselves and their charity, the teams will have to depend on their understanding of one another’s strengths and weaknesses and prove to have the strongest bond in the pack.
In each locale, the human and dog duos will face fun and exciting challenges, designed in concert with a team of accredited veterinarians and certified dog experts that also accompany the group on their exciting journey, making sure it is a positive experience for everyone.
To celebrate the premiere of The Pack Amazon sent me this fun gift box for my pups! Oh my goodness did they LOVE it.

I can even put into words how much fun I had with my pups! I think their favorite thing was the peanut butter (dog-friendly) bubbles! They chased the bubbles around the room, trying to eat as many as they could until they finally dropped and needed a nap!

I can’t believe someone was going to dump that sweet baby on the side of the road! Thanks for your care of all these sweet furbabies.
I know, right?!? I don’t understand how someone could do that. My daughter texted me that her co-worker’s cousin was going to dump Luci on the side of the road. I told her to grab the puppy and I’d be there ASAP! I couldn’t let anything happen to Luci. She is the sweetest dog (most of the time, lol)!
We love our dogs so much, and the bond we share with them is unbreakable. I can’t wait to watch this show. I love the story it’s going to tell of these people and their bonds.
Yes! This is reality television that I can get behind. I’m so excited to see this. I think it’s going to be great.
I am so excited to watch The Pack today! It sounds like an amazing show.
Aww your pack is absolutely amazing! The show sounds like it will be so good as well I must check it out.
I am looking forward to watching this. I’m sure it’s going to be great!
I am so excited to start watching this tonight while snuggling my pup!
We ended up watching the whole series!! So good!
I’m a dog person, too, and I also love big dogs. We’ve currently got a mutt (she’s adorable!) that’s some kind of mix of shepherd, border collie, and hound. One of our favorite dogs was our Great Dane– I just wish Danes lived longer!
Aww, that sounds like an amazing combination of breeds! Mutts have a special place in my heart! My brother was always bringing home strays. I love Great Danes, too. They are awesome dogs!
Aww your dogs looks so adorable and The Pack sounds great show to watch I would love to check on this.
Thank you! I think they are but then I’m a little biased, lol. I binge-watched the whole series yesterday while I worked, lol.
This show looks really good. My kids would love to see this.
My kids really enjoyed watching. They kept coming into my office and watching over my shoulder until I told them to put it on in the living room, lol. It’s like The Amazing Race, but with people and their dog, not a friend/spouse.
I could totally relate on how on you loved big dogs more than the small ones. They’re just so cuddly.
Yes! So cuddly. My pups love to hop up in the recliner or couch and sit on me. They THINK they are little lap dogs, lol.
Unlike you, I prefer small dogs. We have a bunch in my hometown. They’re just the cutest for me. But your dogs are adorable too.
I agree, little dogs are pretty adorable! I especially love it when they have cute sweaters on!
I love all dogs, big and small. Big dogs have more area to cuddle which is a bonus.
Yes! More square feet of cuddles!
Your dogs are all so adorable. I’m a big dog person myself too. I like the bigger dogs more too. I sadly don’t have any dogs yet though, just cats. We’ve tried dogs and our cats just don’t like them sadly. This show sounds like it’s going to be amazing. I can’t wait to see it.
I understand. My kids would LOVE a cat or three, but my oldest dog, Sparky, has never liked cats.
Dogs are awesome! I watched an episode of The Pack today, and I’m looking forward to watching more.
Isn’t it great!?! I really enjoyed watching.
I love our little cutie dog and she is my stress reliever….my kids love to play her and cuddle her…love to add another one,
The really are the best stress reliever!
I would have at least one more dog if I could. We are limited and can have two. I have a yorkie and my daughter has a boxer mix.
My Yorkie is very spoiled. He always knows when I need snuggles or when I don’t feel good. Lately, he has to sleep snuggled up in the crease of my arm. I’ll flip over and he will move to the other side. I’ve always been worried about squishing him but he lets me know with a growl.
My daughters boxer rules the roost. She is always in play mode and constantly brings a toy in her mouth in hopes we will play. She is two so she still is a puppy. Just like my Yorkie, she loves to be near you. Check out the boxer lean and hugs. She does both. It’s cute until she tries to sit on your head or something. Lol
Yes! If we had the room I would have all. the. dogs!! My husband threatens to leave every time I bring one home, lol. But (secretly) he loves it too.
I love both cats and dogs. I think dogs give you more satisfaction and that’s why it’s easier to love them. Anyways I will definitely check out The Pack!
That is very true! Although, I had a cat when I was in high school who I swear thought she was a dog, lol. She would play fetch and follow me around wherever I went.
I saw her on the Today show and she was talking about her new show. It looks interesting.
You have an amazing pack! Your bond is perfect. I have no dogs yet but I would love to have one!
