I’ve been blogging for several years now. It started off as just a way to share my funny stories about my kids with family and friends. But when people who were not family members, friends, or even a friend of a friend actually started READING my posts, I decided it was time to take things a little more seriously.

With the help of a great group of local bloggers I met when we relocated to the Charlotte area, I found my groove and have transitioned into the beginnings of a professional blogger.

So now I’m at the point where I need to take the next step. Networking and blogging conferences! I’m a bit of an introvert (okay I’m a HUGE introvert… that’s probably why I like to hide behind my computer screen to tell my stories) so this is especially terrifying for me.

Several bloggers recommended I attend the Type-A Parent Conference. I really wanted to, but I didn’t think I could work out the logistics. For “kicks” I applied to be a blog partner, but never thought I would actually be picked.

Then last week I got the best email ever! “Hello and thank you for applying to be a blog partner providing onsite services at the 6th Annual Type-A Parent Conference in Atlanta on September 19 through 21. We would love to have you!”

I was so excited to read those words I screamed

I’m going to the Type-A Parent Conference!!

…and startled my poor dog sitting under my desk so much he smacked his head on my keyboard tray. (He was fine after a little hug and a dog bone.)

Then everything started to fall into place just like it was meant to be!

I’m really looking forward to networking and finally meeting IRL the bloggers I’ve been following virtually for so many years. I’m still nervous, but it’s that good butterflies-in-the-stomach nerves and not the deer-in-the-headlights terror I was expecting :-).
